Already an important center for transportation and agriculture, Scottsdale emerged as a popular resort area, with the construction of a performing arts center and many fine retail and dining establishments fueling the expanding tourist economy. Today, Scottsdale’s economic and residential growth continues unabated. The West's Most Western Town prides itself in its rich Western cowboy history, preserving while heavily promoting its plethora of "western" activities and events.
